Top 5 Things To Do In Amsterdam

If you guys follow me on Instagram (@ellemacuk), you would know that Amsterdam is my favourite city break destination. If you don’t follow me yet… you really should. I’m fabulous. Every time I go it’s hectic, but fun as hell, so I thought I’d wrap up what I think are five things you definitely must do whilst visiting the wonderful city of Amsterdam.

The Heineken Experience!Β

Right, so this is already one of the city’s top attractions and I can understand why. You don’t even have to be a beer lover to enjoy this as it’s both informative, fun and Instagram worthy. (Plus, I got free cheese at end?!?! This is like the ultimate way to my heart). Not only do you get a nice walk through the history of the company and the old factory, but you get to view the brewing area, and have a chance at making your own beer. There’s also like a mini rave going on downstairs where you can get 2 free beers with your wrist band too! Get down there people.

This is like the cutest little dessert store I think I have ever been to. Not only is the decor a dreamy bloggers paradise, but the choice of Belgian chocolate covered fruit is to die for. I had a couple of chocolate covered strawberries and I swear to God, they were juiciest strawberries I’ve ever had. You want gold covered pretzels? They have it! You want strawberry flavored strawberries? They have it! They are located right in the centre along the beautiful canals, so you can dangle your feet over the edge and watch boats go by whilst you eat.

Polaberry Amsterdam

Supper Club!

I think if you’re from Essex, you already know about this one for sure. It’s part of the initiation process for you to have visited here, Blue Marlin in Ibiza and our very own Sheesh. For you guys who are not familiar, this place bangs. You can start your evening with a five course meal, chilled out on massive white beds (try not to spill anything) whilst dj’s and dancers set the mood. Oh you thought that was it? No, no. First the supper and then the club! Both lights, and party people colour the white canvas whilst backing a couple of tequila shots. What is not to love about this place?Β

Lotti’s at the Hoxton

Of course, number four on the list is another food place. But I promise you, this place is very worthy of being on here. Not only is the food delicious, but the waiters are too. The laid back decor and open style kitchen make this place stand out amongst the hundreds of other food places along the canals. Be sue to get the Mac & cheese (the portions are super generous), and use the photobooth upstairs for a little keepsake.

Zandvoort Beach

I’ve saved the best till last. Zandvoort Beach! Although it’s not actually in Amsterdam, it’s a quick 25 min train journey from Amsterdam Centraal station. As much as we all love a city break, sometimes it’s nice to get the best of both worlds and with return tickets being as cheap as 8 Euros, it’s a no brainer! We spent the entire day drinking, getting a sweet tan and having some down time from the hustle and bustle of the city. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

There’s literally so much do in this city that next time I go, I’ll probably have a new top 5 suggestions that you defo must do. What’s been your favourite things to do whilst in Amsterdam?

I went Amsterdam last year and I have unfinished business there. When I go back I’m starting off at Pulaberry cos those chocolate covered strawberries sound like the best thing since sliced bread πŸ˜‚
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Anne Frank museum and the IAmsterdam sign as those attractions are among the most talked about. Nonetheless I enjoyed your post πŸ™‚

Haaaha they were to die for! First and last on my list next time I go. πŸ˜‚

Tbh every time I have been, they are always sooooooo busy, that I almost find that it loses it’s appeal. My second reasoning is that, you will find the two of those listed on any and every “to do list” for Amsterdam. I thought that this gives people a couple of other options of great things to do! Thanks for reading x

Amsterdam is one beautiful place and I am actually planning a trip there next summer. So this was really helpful. The dessert store is definitely on my bucket list! I have a massive sweet tooth. Very well-written post loved the pics.

  5. Sounds fun! I still have never been to the Heineken brewery, I guess I should do that next time I visit Amsterdam πŸ™‚
Since I used to live close to The Hague, we tended to go to the Scheveningen beach, I think I have been to Zandvoort only a few times.
Nice places to check out! Thank you.

Thanks for reading! I’d definitely recommend the trip down to Zandvoort. There’s a lot of fun things to do in the area as well as it being a beautiful setting. I’ll be sure to check out Scheveningen next time I’m out there x
